Prepare Official Emblems, Seals and Insignia for Production
The emblem is usually the primary identity element on military and public safety challenge coins. A clear source file helps us preserve protected shapes, internal symbols, border text and required wording during engineering review.
Your emblem package should identify:
- Shapes, symbols and letterforms that must not be changed or simplified
- The official organization name and exact spelling
- Color references for each required area
- Small details that carry organizational meaning
- Elements that may be adjusted if the original detail is too small for the selected coin size
Please confirm that your organization has permission to use every submitted badge, seal, insignia, motto and other protected mark. If several emblem files are in circulation, identify which version is current and who has authority to approve it.

Keep Rank, Unit and Department Wording Legible
Coin space is limited, so every line of text needs a clear role. The main organization or department name should normally receive more visual weight than a unit number, station reference, date or recipient line. A motto may be prominent, but it should not compete with the official emblem.
List the wording in priority order when sending the brief. Mark each item as required, optional or variable. This allows our engineering team to flag crowded layouts without deciding which institutional information matters most.
For orders with several versions, create a version list before proofing begins. For example, one design may keep the department seal and recognition message fixed while changing the station number. Another may use the same unit emblem while changing rank or recipient wording. Use one naming system across the artwork files, quantity list and approval comments.
Small text must remain readable in the proposed production layout. If wording cannot fit clearly, possible solutions include shortening nonessential text, moving supporting information to the reverse or increasing the coin dimensions. The responsible stakeholder should approve any change to official names, mottos or rank references.
Divide Fixed and Variable Content Between Both Faces
The front and reverse should work as one information system. Placing every emblem, date and message on one face can weaken the main identity and make small wording difficult to inspect.

Select a Feasible Forming and Decoration Route
The production route depends on the artwork, not only the preferred appearance. We review line detail, raised and recessed areas, color boundaries and printed elements before recommending how the design can be formed and decorated.
Gairun’s verified forming capabilities include zinc alloy die-casting, stamping or die-struck forming, photo etching and hydraulic high-relief forming. Supported metals include zinc alloy, brass, iron, stainless steel and aluminum. The suitable combination depends on the coin geometry and the details that must be retained.
Decoration options include soft enamel, imitation hard enamel, screen printing, UV printing and clear epoxy coating. Available metal appearances include gold, silver, nickel, black nickel, antique bronze and antique silver plating. Dual plating is also available, but artwork requiring two plating tones needs a separate review of surface boundaries.
Enamel is useful when the design contains defined color areas separated by metal lines. Screen or UV printing may be considered for graphic details that do not translate well into separate enamel fields. Clear epoxy can be reviewed when a coated surface is requested. Final process selection is confirmed against the submitted design and specification.
Record Every Approval Before Mold Production
An institutional proof is both a design preview and an approval record. Our engineering team prepares a 2D or 3D artwork proof from the source emblem and written project requirements. The free proof is provided within 24 hours for review before mold production.
The approval owner should check the proof against the original brief, rather than reviewing appearance alone. The review should cover:

Packaging should reflect how the coins will be handled after delivery. Coins issued individually need separation from one another. Ceremonial presentations may call for a display box. Bulk distribution may require protective packing that is easy for the receiving team to count and organize.
Available options include standard anti-scratch packing, individual OPP bags, bubble protection, velvet boxes, paper display boxes and plastic display boxes.
Include the packaging quantity for each coin version in the RFQ. If only selected recipients receive presentation boxes, separate boxed and standard-packed quantities clearly.

Inspect Emblem Detail Through Each Production Stage
Inspection for institutional coins focuses on whether the manufactured item follows the approved drawing and whether visible production defects are controlled. Gairun applies incoming, first-article, in-process and final inspection stages.
Incoming inspection covers the metal materials used for production. After mold engraving and trial forming, first-article inspection compares dimensions, thickness and relief detail with the approved drawing. This is a key point for checking whether small insignia features and text have transferred as intended.
In-process checks address burrs after casting or stamping, flatness after polishing, plating color differences and adhesion after plating, and overflow or missing color after coloring. Before shipment, finished coins receive a 100% visual inspection for surface scratches.
These checks support consistent reproduction of the signed-off design. They do not replace buyer approval of emblem use, wording or the final artwork proof.
