FACTORY-DIRECT OEM / ODM MANUFACTURING
Custom Metal Keychains Made Around Your Brand Design
Gairun manufactures custom metal keychains for brands, promotional product distributors and wholesale buyers. We turn buyer-supplied logos, symbols, characters, PDFs and hand-drawn concepts into practical all-metal keyrings.
Your design can be developed with zinc alloy, brass, iron, stainless steel or aluminum. Available production routes include die-casting, stamping, die-struck forming, photo etching and hydraulic relief. Our 2D and 3D engineering team can also prepare a free artwork proof within 24 hours to show the proposed shape, decoration and keyring connection before tooling.
To start an assessment, send your design with the planned quantity, dimensions and finish requirements. You can also browse our full range of custom keychains and bottle openers or view other custom metal products.
Turn a Logo, Symbol or Character into a Metal Keychain
A strong keychain design begins with a clear main shape. A company logo can form the complete outer profile, sit inside an emblem or appear as raised or recessed detail on a standard shape. Characters and symbols can also be adapted into a solid metal silhouette.
Flat graphics usually need to be translated into areas that can be formed, plated, colored or printed. The design review considers:
- The outer shape and its connection to the keyring
- Raised, recessed and flat areas
- Metal borders between enamel colors
- Small text and narrow gaps
- Separate elements that may not connect to the main body
- Decoration on the front, back or both sides
Small lettering, isolated details and thin sections require engineering review. We may adjust how these features are represented in the proof while keeping the main brand identity clear.
Plan the Shape, Size and Keyring Position Together
The outer profile, dimensions and attachment point work as one system. If the attachment point is added after the shape has been approved, the keychain may hang at an unintended angle or place the branded face in the wrong position.
Show the intended width and height on the artwork. Also state whether the back needs a second logo, text, a recessed pattern or a plain metal treatment. Thickness should be reviewed in relation to the forming route and the amount of relief rather than treated as a separate visual choice.
The attachment point needs enough connected metal around it and should be included in the silhouette shown on the proof. Mark its preferred location and indicate how you want the branded face to hang. For file types, dimensions, color references and front-to-back notes, use our artwork and file preparation guide.
Match the Metal and Forming Process to the Artwork
Material selection follows the required shape, relief and decoration. Gairun can manufacture all-metal keychains from zinc alloy, brass, iron, stainless steel or aluminum, subject to artwork and engineering review.
| Material or route | Design factor to review | Typical decision question |
|---|---|---|
| Zinc alloy with die-casting | Formed shapes, openings and dimensional relief | Does the design need molded depth or a shaped profile? |
| Brass or iron with stamping or die-struck forming | Metal lines, recessed areas and the planned outline | Can the artwork be defined through pressed metal detail? |
| Stainless steel or aluminum | Product shape and decoration compatibility | Does the specific design suit the available forming and finishing route? |
| Photo etching | Flat graphic detail and recessed design areas | Would an etched layout represent the artwork clearly? |
| Hydraulic relief | Raised and recessed depth | Does the design call for a more pronounced relief structure? |
This table is a starting point, not a fixed material rule. We confirm the route after reviewing the design, dimensions, finish and decoration requirements.
Choose a Plating Finish That Supports the Brand
Plating sets the main metal color and affects how raised lines, recessed areas and open backgrounds relate to the logo. Available treatments include gold, silver, nickel, black nickel, antique bronze, antique silver and dual plating.
Bright metal treatments can give the keychain a clear, reflective appearance. Black nickel creates a darker metal direction. Antique bronze and antique silver place darker tones in recessed areas, which can make formed detail easier to distinguish. Dual plating uses two metal tones within one design and requires clear plating boundaries in the artwork and proof.
Sandblasting and matte finishes can reduce shine or create contrast between selected surfaces. For example, a matte field may sit beside polished raised details, subject to process review. Buyers comparing these effects across product types can use the metal finish selection guide.
Add Enamel, Printing or Epoxy to Branded Details
Color treatment should follow the structure of the original graphic. Soft enamel places color in recessed areas, leaving the surrounding metal lines visible. Imitation hard enamel creates a smoother enamel face. Both routes require defined color areas and metal borders in the proof.
Screen printing and UV printing can reproduce graphic elements that are not planned as formed metal or separated enamel fields. Printed details should be identified separately from plating and enamel so the production proof shows which process applies to each part of the design.
Clear epoxy coating is available as an optional surface treatment. If epoxy is requested, its location should be shown in the approved specification rather than assumed to cover every decorated face.
For a design that combines several treatments, identify the intended plating, enamel colors, printed details and front-to-back decoration. We will review how those elements can be coordinated within one keychain.
Make the Keyring Connection Part of the Engineering Review
The connection between the metal body and the keyring is a functional part of the design. Its position affects how the product hangs and how the logo is seen when the keychain is held or displayed.
Mark the preferred connection point on your drawing and provide any required hardware notes. The engineering review checks the position against the outer shape, nearby openings and available metal around the connection area. The approved proof should show this point clearly so it is not treated as an unspecified addition.
During final inspection, Gairun checks attachment security along with the visible condition of the finished product. Any project-specific hardware requirement must be confirmed in the order specification.
Select Packaging for Bulk Handling or Presentation
Packaging should match how the promotional keyrings will be stored, shipped, distributed or presented. It is a selectable part of the order and is not automatically included in every format.
Confirm the package type, individual or grouped packing requirement and any presentation needs when requesting pricing. Our custom packaging guide provides a broader comparison of these options.
Standard anti-scratch packing
A protective option for routine bulk orders.
Individual OPP bags
Keeps each keychain separate for counting and distribution.
Bubble protection
Adds separation and cushioning where the project requires it.
Velvet boxes
Supports individual gift presentation.
Paper display boxes
Provides a boxed presentation format.
Plastic display boxes
Keeps the product visible inside the package.
Review the Proof, Custom Sample and Inspection Points
The control process starts with the artwork proof. Our engineering team can turn vector artwork, a PDF or a hand-drawn concept into a free 2D or 3D proof within 24 hours. The proof records the proposed shape, dimensions, relief, finish, color areas and attachment position before production work begins.
Custom sampling normally takes 7–10 working days. A custom sample represents the submitted design and is different from an existing stock sample. Existing stock samples are free, but delivery cost is confirmed separately.
Keychain checks can include dimensions, thickness and relief detail during first-article comparison. In-process inspection covers burrs after forming, surface flatness after polishing, plating color and adhesion, and overfilled or underfilled color areas. Finished products receive a visual check for surface scratches and a check of attachment security.
Prepare the Details Needed for a Keychain Quotation
A complete order brief lets us review the design and production route together. Include:
The standard MOQ is 100 pieces per design. A 50-piece trial order may be supported for selected products, subject to the design, process and project review. Submit the brief through our request a quote page for a project-specific quotation.
